Everything You Need To Know About The Slender Man at Cannock Chase

Dear Paranormal Pals,

There has been a media storm during the last couple of days concerning some more strange sightings from the Cannock Chase area. As there is so much misinformation out there, I thought it would be a good idea to spend a few moments setting the record straight.

Over the last two months, sightings of a tall, dark and terrifying entity have been flooding in. The fact that so many people witnessed the same thing during such a short period fascinated me. As most of you know already, Cannock Chase is considered by many researchers to be a portal area. A place in which strange and unusual creatures appear at random moments with no explanation.

Paranormal investigator Lee Brickley has a new book available about the paranormal happenings on Cannock Chase. Read it here: UK Link - US Link or click the book cover below!

Now, there is a lot of confusion about the origins of Slender Man, and so I'd like to dispel a few myths. Firstly, it is important to note that many people all over the world claim to have encountered creatures of that description. While the term "Slender Man" may have only been in use since 2009, it is most certainly not a fictional creation. As I have said a few times in media interviews, re-branding happens from time to time in the paranormal world.

I'd like you to consider the idea that whoever "thinks" they created the character in 2009 simply took inspiration from the many sightings that have occurred for the last two thousand years. They came up with the name, and the rest is history. However, you have to acknowledge the fact that their idea was not original, and it had been around under different guises for millennia.

In Germany the entity is referred to as "Der Grossman" or "The Tall Man"

In Holland they call it "Fear Dubh" or "The Black Man"

The entity is even mentioned in some Taino sources (an early Caribbean civilisation) where it is called "Hupia"

I could go on.

As far as the Cannock Chase cases go, it's still early days. I'm monitoring the witnesses to see if the events repeat themselves. However, it looks likely that most of the incidents that happened within local homes can be put down to sleep paralysis. I draw that conclusion based on the circumstances surrounding the events, and the condition and personality of those involved.

The most interesting sightings I've received so far are from people who claim to have seen this tall, dark spectre or  monster in the woods. The reason they fascinate me so much is that none of the witnesses could have been asleep. They were all walking in roughly the same area of Cannock Chase, and their reports are startlingly similar.

I will continue to interview people if more sightings come in over the next few weeks,

We are all aware of the strangeness that goes down at this Staffordshire forest, and I know most of you are just as eager as me to discover the truth. One theory could be that we are dealing with a single entity. Something that has the ability to transform into different creatures, or perhaps something that appears differently to different people? That might help to explain why so many werewolf, pig-man, panther, and black eyed children sightings have come to light in the recent times.

At the moment, it's still early days. Hopefully I'll have some kind of conclusion for you in the near future.

I've included some of the sighting reports below so you can all take a look.

I look forward to seeing you back here soon.

Warmest Regards,

Lee Brickley

Sighting one:

Date: 2nd January 2015

Location: Castle Ring

Time: 02:00am

Report: While taking a midnight stroll around Castle Ring last Friday morning, I happened to notice a strange figure in the distance. It appeared to rise out of the trees and hover over the path around 100m in front of me. I don’t know if you’ve ever heard the stories of Spring-Heeled Jack, but if you have, this thing seemed to look pretty similar to all those old artists impressions. It was very dark, but I could see it clearly because of the lights coming from Rugeley. It was also a pretty clear night. If I were to compare it to anything, I would say it looked like a stereotypical Victorian gentleman. Long black overcoat with a Homburg hat. Except, I know this was no flying human. I know that because it had blood red eyes that shone in the night sky. It also had a mouth full of teeth that seemed to look like razors. Whatever it was, it stopped hovering and descended back into the trees. Needless to say, I did not investigate any further.

Sighting two:

I was awoken yesterday morning just before 2am by an odd scratching noise in my bedroom. I instantly sat upright in bed in an attempt to discover whatever was causing the sound. To my astonishment, there was what seemed like a sphere-shaped shadow by the edge of my wardrobe. As I tried to get out of bed and investigate further, the shadow began to stretch towards the ceiling. It was at that point I found myself faced with the most disgusting and horrific creature imaginable. It was about 8 feet tall, and had a white face with razor sharp fangs. It almost looked like a vampire. I fell back into my bed and the creature started moving towards me. Its arms stretched out to almost twice their original length, and I felt claws scraping at my skin. I let out a scream in fear for my life, and the creature retreated back into the corner of my room. It then shrank back down into a ball and slowly faded away.

Sighting three:

I don’t really know who else to turn to. The weirdest thing happened last night, and I just don’t know what to make of it. At half past two in the morning while I was sleeping, I heard a bang that woke me from my dream. As my eyes opened, I saw a man floating over me. He was so close that I would have headbutted him if I moved an inch. I could see into his eyes. They were a fierce red colour that shook me to my very core. Although he didn’t speak, I knew what he was thinking. It was as though he was talking to me telepathically. He definitely wanted to hurt me, but there was something stopping him. It was almost like he was someone gaining power from scaring me though. Maybe something bad will happen when he gets strong enough? For what it’s worth, I’m not a nutcase, and I work for a local business of which you will be familiar. It just seemed the anger in his eyes grew stronger as I was feeling more scared. The ordeal ended when the man (who was completely dressed in black with a hat to match) floated higher and higher above my until he hit my ceiling and disappeared.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon - Lee

Black Eyed Girl sightings ‘not linked to Cannock Chase murders in 1960s'

Paranormal investigator Lee Brickley says sightings of the Black Eyed Girl are unlikely to be linked to the child murders at Cannock Chase back in the 1960s.

The Staffordshire beauty spot is a notorious epicentre for mysterious phenomena, including werewolves, UFOs and big cats.
And although Mr Brickley has debunked the legend of the Pig-Man as a military tactic to keep civilians away from wartime military bases in the area, he believes there is definitely something otherworldly about the Black Eyed Girl.
Prior to the latest sighting of a child whose eyes were "completely black, no iris, no white, nothing", the spectre had last been seen in 1982, shouting for help before running off into dense woodland.
Mr Brickley said: "Of all the paranormal phenomena experienced on Cannock Chase, black eyed children have to be the most eerie by far.
"The only advice I could offer anyone who comes across one is: start running while you still can."

Paranormal investigator Lee Brickley has a new book available about the paranormal happenings on Cannock Chase. Read it here: UK Link - US Link or click the book cover below!

And he advises witnesses not to follow the girl – as she could be trying to lure them to their death.
Lee says the previous sighting occurred when his aunt, then aged 18, met friends on Cannock Chase on a summer evening in 1982.
He admits: "One of the group’s many pastimes involved donning horror masks and attempting to scare away couples, who often used the area for illicit liaisons."
But he doesn’t think the Black Eyes Child is just a prank.
His aunt spotted a girl aged six to eight shouting for help and running in the opposite direction. She chased after her but gave up when the girl disappeared into woodland.
His aunt told police, who had not received any calls about missing children but carried out a search, which did not uncover anything.
He said: "At the time, no one really had any reason to believe anything paranormal was going on and the girl certainly appeared to be flesh and blood.
"It was only later, when discussing the incident with a neighbour, that my aunt was made aware of Raymond Morris’s 1960s child killings in the area. Suffice to say, this revelation really spooked her."
So could the Black Eyed Girl be the ghost of one of the victims of the Cannock Chase murders – also known as the A34 murders –  in which three schoolgirls were killed in the late 1960s?
Raymond Leslie Morris, from Walsall, was convicted of the murder of Christine Ann Darby, whose body was found buried in undergrowth in Cannock Chase.
He is considered the chief suspect in the deaths of Margaret Reynolds and Diana Joy Tift, whose bodies were found in a ditch at Mansty Gully on the edge of Cannock Chase in January 1966, and is also a suspect in the disappearance of Jane Taylor.
Not surprisingly, he became known as the Monster of Cannock Chase.
Mansty Lane, where the bodies of Margaret Reynolds and Diana Joy Tift were found in 1966
Morris died in prison in March 2014, at the age of 84, having failed a judicial review in 2010 to overturn his conviction.
However, Mr Brickley feels the Black Eyed Child is more likely to be connected to devil worshippers who are said to frequent the moors.
He said: "There have been many other sightings of this nature in the area, and I certainly don’t completely rule out the theory that they are indeed the ghosts of children murdered by Morris.
"But, to me it seems that, as these children often appear to be completely solid and never really show any unusual qualities, their origin could lay squarely in the realms of the occult."
Mr Brickley said: "It is fairly common for people to see groups of hooded individuals chanting and drawing pentagrams in the dirt to this very day, although I am not suggesting they would harm a child.
"However, we know that Satanists like to conjure up demons, and which entities are their number one preference? You guessed it – child demons.
"They look like mortal children but are described as pure evil."
On his paranormal website, Lee, 28 and himself from Cannock, refers to medieval tales of The Devil’s Brat, a devious child who led unknowing victims on a wild goose chase in the dark until they fell to their deaths by stumbling over the edge of a steep drop.
He adds: "In my mind it seems likely that even if my aunt had continued to chase that little girl, she would never have caught her, because it wasn’t a child at all, but an evil force, planning to do away with my own family member.
"So it is a good job she gave up when she did. Imagine what could have happened if she had stayed out any longer.

BRAND NEW: Pig-man Sighting On Cannock Chase

Hi guys!

I was contacted today by a gentleman who lives in the Walsall area concerning a sighing of the pig-man that dates back to 2006. It's an interesting story I'm sure you'd all like to hear. For that reason, I have chosen to publish it unedited here today.

Please feel free to comment or get in touch if you have questions or similar sightings to report. The man concerned will see this blog post and most likely answer any comments you might make. I found this to be a rather compelling story, and I'm certain you will too.

See you on the other side

Oh yeah..... this guy's also seen some UFOs on Cannock Chase, but I'll let him fill you in on that.

It was about 2004, three of us decided to camp on Cannock Chase. Myself another lad and a lady. We decided to bike there, the lady overestimating her ability. Took us hours to get there. When we arrived it was dark and we forgot the torches. We were by the big communication tower at Pye Green. We say three flashing lights above some trees on a path called dead mans walk. We agreed to set up tents there so we had light. So we did. From exhaustion from a 6hr bike ride we all just fell to sleep. When we woke up we questioned these 3 flashing lights as there was nothing electrical around. Nothing else strange happened we went home having a good time.

We new that was a UFO. Not saying aliens but defiantly never seen any thing like it before. So we told quite a few people, and went back on many occasions spanning around 2 years, to see if we could find anything else. We saw nothing.

We caped there one Friday night rough around 2006. Just a sheet in the trees. Prob about 5 of us. I had a lift there by one of my mates. They all had work Saturday so planned to go back early. Friday night we were quit close to the road. We had a fire burning for warmth and light. The police pulled up and told us to put it out. Me being me I told them no. They got in there cars and drove off. Which I thought was strange, that's never happened to me before. So next day the lads went to work. They were planning to come back and camp the night again after work. I decided to stay on my own. Move all stuff deeper into the forest, as not to attract police attention again. I was there 5hrs on my own. I sent up 3 tents put sheets in the trees, built a surround to stop the wind, got all the fire wood ready, it was a master piece. 2 of my friends came for me and said no one was up for stopping the night. I was pi**ed off. All that stuff was mine. Around £600 worth. And I was to just leave it in a forest unattended. Wasn't happy.

I'm not easily frightened. I spent 5hrs alone in that forest that day with no fear. I had an eighteen inch razor sharp machete. I know sounds a bit sinister but we are all responsible adults that were there. And you never know when you might need one.

So that night I rang every one I knew to get to come back with me so my stuff wasn't left. No one wanted to. So I decided I'm doing it. I'm gonna camp there on my own. I got a book i was reading and of I went. I pulled up in my car where we had originally seen the UFO. I walked casually across the road. There was a tall bush you had to walk through to get on the path. I suddenly clicked and said to myself. Your on your own now, be a bit more wise and cautious. So I stopped in the center of this large bush and light a fag. I listened and heard movement. I slowly and quietly moved out of the bush and round expecting to see a big deer. In stead about 200 yards away from me(I was looking down a hill) I saw a white figure on all fours, looked like it was sniffing the ground, as a dog would if you were walking down a street covers in lamp posts. First I thought its the warden. He's found the stuff and is looking for us with his dog. But the sound it was making sounded more like a pig sniffing. So I thought it was a large boar. Was the right colour to be a pig. I watched it for about 30 seconds trying to determine it. Then it stopped dead, didn't move. I knew it now knew I was there. I froze, took hold of my machete and waited. Then this thing stood up on it's back legs. It was massive. I'm 6'3 this thing was at least 7ft tall. And it ran at me at speed up the hill, like a person would run. Squalling like a banshee you would hear on a horror film crossed with a pig. I ran like a b**ch got in my car and drove off without looking back. Iv never been so scared in my life. I have been back since, but never on my own.

The funny thing iv never heard of any one knowing or any other proof of it till last year. Can't believe I'm not the only one to see, this. Typical I see something after 2 years of trying when I was on my own. I have proof of the lights in the trees. I have 2 other eye witnesses to that. I have no proof of the pig man other than believe me or not.

One other thing I missed about the first time was, as we were riding our bikes towards the lights each of us felt a massive drop in temperature. Only way to describe it would be to walk into a big meat freeze, instantly ,extremely cold.

As you can see, that's a pretty amazing story that sounds spooky as hell. We all know the story of the Cannock Chase pig-man and how he allegedly came into being, but reading yet another detailed sighting report from a local resident still chills us to the bone.

I wonder whether anyone will ever manage to get a picture? Who knows.

If you are interested in talking with the gentleman concerned, drop me an email and I'll do my best to help.

Thanks again for stopping by. I'll post an update soon.

Until then... stay out of the woods!
